Development Engineer

Development Engineer reports to the VP of R&D

Key Job Responsibilities

• Contribute to product development design, development, and commercialization.
• Design and develop orthopaedic devices.
• Prepare timelines, cost analyses, and resource needs as required.
• Prepare engineering drawings with specifications and tolerances.
• Create product specifications.
• Perform design verification and validation tests..
• Build prototypes.
• Prepare preliminary manufacturing and inspection procedures.
• Write design verification and validation protocols and reports.
• Write process verification and validation protocols and reports.
• Transfer technology to production.
• Interface with cross-functional team members during the course of product development to insure adequate specifications.
• Perform job functions in accordance with applicable GMP and ISO standards.
• Handle cadaveric tissue in preparation for and as part of device testing.
• May lead product development projects under the direction of a senior co-worker.

Communication (Suppliers, Customers, Key Internal Personnel, Regulatory Agencies, etc.)

Must effectively communicate with internal customers (Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, Finance, Senior Management), external customers, outside regulatory agencies (e.g., FDA), consultants, and suppliers.

Skills, Certifications and Other Qualification Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Biomedical or related engineering field
BS Degree and 0-4 years experience.  Degree and experience must be in a field related to job description.
Medical device experience a plus
